What Is a Controlled Waste Management System?

Reloop describes well-managed waste systems as ‘controlled waste management’, defined as:

  • countries that have universal waste collection (i.e., more than 95% of the population have access to collections); and
  • all collected waste is destined for an end-of-life process, which includes recycling, composting, incineration, waste to energy, or disposal in a sanitary landfill.
